About Ouray, Colorado

We will take a 6 hour road trip from Fort Collins through the Rocky Mountains to reach Ouray Colorado where will stay at the Historic Wiesbaden Inn. From our relaxing stay Ouray, called the ‘Little Switzerland of America, we visit the ancient Native American Cliff Dwellings 1300 AD in Mesa Verde Natio0nal Park.

History

Founded in 1873, Fort Collins is located near Rocky Mountain National Park and has a population of 350,000 in 2023. Home of Colorado State University, this is a safe progressive college town with many local restaurants and local college music. We are the home of 7 brewpubs. Most of the electric boxes throughout the city are painted decoratively by local artists. It’s a fun town.

Mesa Verde is known for its extremely well-preserved Puebloan cliff dwellings, where Native Americans lived from 600 to 1300 AD. and carved their homes into the earth. It's an incredible experience to walk through their ancient homes and wonder about those who walked before.
