I received my PhD from Michigan State University in 1977 and taught marketing for over 40 years at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business in New York City, retiring back home to Colorado in 2019. While most professors used time to further their research and publications, I took a much different route. While I initially wore a coat and tie, attended faculty meetings and taught thousands of university students, my real life centered on travel and adventure. Each summer I would travel, first hitchhiking around the U.S., then venturing to South America, India and Africa but it was in China that I was fortunate to being invited into college students homes to share meals, make memories and practice English.
